BENEFITING: AMYS ONE STEP AHEAD FOUNDATION INC
EVENT DATE: Jul 27, 2013
We know too well how many people lost their lives, lost limbs, and sustained serious injuries in the horrific bombings at the 2013 Boston Marathon - including children. A Step Ahead Prosthetics and it's foundation have reached out to those affected in Boston. Let's reach back!
In July I will be running my first 50K, the Great Cranberry Island Ultra in Maine. I am hoping to also raise money for the One Step Ahead Foundation, which is part of A Step Ahead Prosthetics.
The One Step Ahead Foundation was created to give children with physical disabilities – particularly those with limb loss – a chance to get involved in sports and experience all the great things – like confidence, community, pride - that come with athletics. The Foundation is lead by Amy Palmiero-Winters, an incredibly accomplished athlete and runner who lost her leg in a motorcycle accident. Amy continues to run races and clock times I can only dream of!!!
The running community has never meant more to me. Hopefully our support will help more children - children who weren't sure they could ever be athletes - be part of this amazing group and realize they can do anything!
