We're building a bridge! Arup is joining forces with Bridges to Prosperity to build a pedestrian bridge in the community of Las Calderas, Nicaragua. Five members of the Americas region are traveling to Nicaragua in November and would appreciate your support!
Bridges to Prosperity provides isolated communities with access to essential health care, education and economic opportunities by building footbridges over impassable rivers. We will be traveling to Las Calderas to construct a footbridge over the river Los Mollejones. Crossing the river can be dangerous and life threatening, forming a barrier to critical services, such as healthcare, schools, employment and food markets.
This bridge will ensure continuous access for the community of Las Calderas to local, regional and capital resources in the larger city of Esquipulas. It will be a vital link for the community, encouraging and maintaining economic growth, as well as providing access to life saving opportunities.
Arup is very excited to be a part of it! Fundraising will go towards supporting the Arup team in Las Calderas, as well as enabling us to donate PPE and equipment to the local population. Anything we receive that is over and above what we need will be donated to Bridges to Prosperity to help with their ongoing efforts, including PPE equipment and maintenance supplies for the local community.
