EVENT DATE Mar 03, 2017
I am so excited to be participating in ASB again, this time as a trip leader! In March of 2017 I will be leading a team of NC State students on the Environmental Issues Alternative Service Break trip to Punta Gorda, Belize. This trip will focus on sustainability and environmentalism through a partnership with two different organizations; Peacework and the Toledo Cacao Growers’ Association (TCGA). From March 3-12 our team will be learning about the issues facing this region and serving as volunteers and advocates for change as we strive to work alongside community members to raise awareness and help create innovative and ecologically sound farming solutions. The TCGA represents over 600 organic and fair trade certified cacao growers in Southern Belize with a mission to improve the socioeconomic standard of living of local farmers. They assist farmers in implementing sustainable methods in order to improve productivity, eliminate waste, and diversify output. My goal is to raise $1500 to cover travel fees and accommodations while in Belize. Any form of donation would be extremely helpful! You can contribute by donating through my Crowdrise link, by purchasing a coupon book, or by coming to support my team at one of our percentage nights we will have in the Raleigh area. Thank you so much for your support!!
