As parents, we continually encourage our children to do their best, put out effort, to try new things and to stand up for what they believe in. Well, if I am asking my children to do this, then I certainly need to lead by example. Our school is in the process of raising a large amount of money so that we can build a school where our children and future children can be provided a strong education that is rooted in the word of God. Raising this money will likely be difficult. However, we are willing to do our part and have faith that God will provide.
To show our committment we will continually challenge ourselves by competing in different races. We would love for others to join us either as participants or support us with donations and by getting the word out. We understand that running a race or participating in a mud run is not easy. They challenge us both physically and mentally. We also understand that raising the money for this school will not be easy, but we are willing to push ourselves in order to set a good example for our children of what overcoming a challenge can look like. If you are interested in participating with us, but don't know where to start I will post some information in the updates section and I am always willing to help in any way I can. There are many opportunites coming up in the next months and year for us all to run/walk and raise money. Below is more information about the school and our fundraising efforts.
Sincerely, Matt and Laura Bankston
The parents and interested families of Ascension Classical School are currently fully underway with our building fundraising campaign efforts to construct our own, first class learning environment in Southeast Shreveport. We have conditionally acquired, by a very generous donation, 7.7 acres of land on Norris Ferry Road, just south of the P&S Pantry Exxon gas station, on which to construct a permanent home for our children. We have retained the professional design team of Bledsoe Architects to bring to life our vision for a Kindergarten through 8th grade school facility, with all of the amenities that our children and their teachers will require to further the mission of Ascension Classical School and provide the academically rigorous and Christ-centered education that will serve our children well as they grow. The initial architectural renderings and master plan can be seen here. Ascension Classical School strives to create disciples in Christ. We want our children to love the Lord with all their mind, heart, and soul, and to achieve great things for the glory of God. We believe this is accomplished by instilling a love of learning at an early age. The classical model immerses our children in facts and focuses on memorization. Our young students read at an accelerated level, perform advanced math, and are exceptional spellers. Our older students will learn logic, oratory, and rhetoric, which are all designed to create free-thinkers and students who are able to persuasively advocate and communicate their ideas, both verbally and by the written word. While we are not focused on any standardized test criteria, nationwide studies show that our students, trained in the classical model, will out-perform other students on the SAT and ACT. We are overwhelmingly excited about what the future holds. We believe that, as more families become aware of what our school has to offer for their children, Ascension Classical School will continue to grow at an accelerated rate. We have already seen this growth for this coming school year. In order move forward, we are now raising the significant funds necessary for the building process, both by looking inward among the families already committed to the vision of our school and by seeking funding through the generosity of our larger community. We greatly appreciate your consideration of our situation and needs and recognize that no donation is too small and that every gift counts and matters.
