Design and Construction of a Secondary School in the Basa village of Nepal
First of all, THANK YOU so much for the condiseration of donating!!! I am very appreciative of all your support. Enjoy learning more about what a project like this entails. I'm asking for donations to get me to Nepal, so I can help construct this school. I feel like everyone deserves a chance at an education, and I want to contribute to making it possible in Basa, Nepal. In order to make this happen, I will need to reach my goal. I know this won't be possible without the generous support from kind people like YOU! So please help me to raise funds to go to Nepal for a few weeks and help build a school that Architecture for Humanity has designed! Below is just a little more information, and what the ulitmate goal is...
The community development program at Edge of Seven supports building projects in the Everest Region of Nepal, a district containing 107,686 people. While poverty levels have dropped in Nepal from 42% in 1996 to 25.4% in 2009, one quarter of the population, approximately 7.1 million people, still lives below the national poverty line of $1 per day. In order to reduce poverty in the Everest Region of Nepal, we have created a project that will reduce poverty in five communities, serving approximately 8,600 people, over the course of one year. This multi-faceted project will address six of the eight MDGs for tackling extreme poverty in its many dimensions. These goals are:
- Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
- Achieve universal primary education
- Promote gender equality and empower women
- Reduce child mortality
- Improve maternal health
- Ensure environmental sustainability
The goal of this project is to reduce poverty in the Everest region of Nepal by reducing gender disparity in education, reducing biodiversity loss, reducing the number of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation, and increasing the share of women in wage employment. It is our goal to create scalable infrastructure and programs that can be replicated throughout Nepal in the coming years.
Ultimately, my goal is to raise $4000 and this will help fund my portion of my expenses. THANK YOU ALL!
