Nouma Dione's Fundraiser:

A second chance for Little Aisha

Nouma's Photo

Nouma Dione

Aisha is a vibrant seven year old girl from Senegal. In March 2009, She was severely burned over 40% of her body when her mattress caught fire. Like many impoverished families in Senegal, her parents cannot afford to cover for the surgeries which will reconstruct her body and face. In fact, her father barely works so he can take care of her by himself.

Luckily for Aicha, Project Kids Worldwide agreed to cover all her medical expenses. Funds for her airfare and living expenses were raised through a collaborative solidarity effort of the Senegalese Diaspora, in the USA, Africa and Europe. In November 2009 Aisha and her father Moustapha travelled to Boston, MA for the first of a series of 4-6 reconstructive surgeries. They spent the following 8 months in the US adapting to a new life between the incessant trips to the Children's Hospital and their rented room. Aisha's went through difficult surgeries but this special girl kept her spirit high and brought smiles and laughter to everyone one around her especially the Hospital staff who bonded with her.
In July 2010 Aisha and her parents returned to Dakar, Senegal so she can let her skin heal and they are due back to the US in March 2011 for the second round of surgeries.
Unfortunately her parents don't have the funds to cover for the airfare and the living expenses for this trip. This fundraising project is to help cover the airfare and living expense cost of Aisha's trip to the US.
My friends and I believe there is nothing more important than to bring back Aisha's smile and make her dream come true; looking pretty again.
Please help Aisha.
