A Selfless Act of Kindness- Helping A 67yr Old Homeless Lady
Organized by: Quin Marshall
I met this sweet elderly woman in Wal-Mart yesterday and we just so happened to strike up a conversation. I found out that she, her daughter and her daughters 2 sons have been living in a hotel for the past 17 months because they are homeless.
Each day, the 67 year old mother, the 37 year old daughter and the 2 young boys, ages 7 &11; pack their belongings and leave the hotel at checkout time with hopes that kind strangers will help them with the $81 per day. I've spoken with the Quality Inn manager at the Quality Inn hotel and he has been very kind to this family but he is unable to lower their rate. They need something permanent.
Because they're lived there so long, tpoints are accumulated from the Quality Inn rewards program which allows them to accumulate points and receive a free night occasionally. Which is great but still not enough.
My goal is, as a Christian, as a good hearted person is to raise enough money so that this family can get an apartment and live a decent life. Both the mother and daughter have health problems that are concerning as well. Ms. Linda, needs to have both of her knees replaced but she can't have the surgery until she has a home to settle in. And unfortunately, her daughter has Lupus.
I would love to be able to get this family into a home and have it paid up for a several months. Where they won't have to worry about bills while Ms. Linda gets the surgery she needs. Ms.Linda does receive SSI but it isn't much. Her daughter is on disability and is unable to work. Between the disability checks and the SSI, it still isn't enough to put first months rent plus a deposit down either.
Please help me be a blessing to this family!
