BENEFITING: SMALL THINGS
In February of 2014, I will be embarking on my second adventure to the East coast of Africa, but this time I will be living in the country of Tanzania for about four months volunteering my time between working as a nurse in a hospital and a helping care for the children at the Nkoaranga orphanage.
The Small Things is an organization that provides present and future support, education and care for the children, staff and volunteers of Nkoaranga Orphanage, Tanzania, its parent hospital, and orphaned and vulnerable children in the surrounding community.
My hopes are to raise about $2000 for the orphanage which 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the children and mamas there to help pay for the cost of formula, nappies, daily costs, etc. This calculates to about $125/week supporting the orphanage while I am there.
For this I am asking that you share in my adventure by donating to this fundraising process to further the projects the orphanage has taken on of raising these little ones to have a future and hopefully become world changers. A donation as simple as $10 could help feed some of the children or provide medicine.
While I am in Tanzania my goal is to soak up as much culture as I can and immerse myself in the caring for the orphans there and the patients at the hospital, and I want to share this with all my loved ones back home by bringing all donations I raise to the Nkoaranga orphanage and returning with stories of where every dollar went.
So please consider giving up your starbucks coffee for one week or perhaps instead of buying me that birthday present I know you were planning on getting me for November, buy a child on the other side of the world food for a week or support one of the hard working Mamas for a day. It's up to you, but know that everything you send off will indeed go to benefit someone else in a completely different world than yours and it will forever be appreciated & never taken for granted.
"There are over 1 million orphaned children in Tanzania, with millions more vulnerable and impoverished. The Small Things believes these children deserve not just our compassion, but the same things parents the world over want for their kids: the highest quality care, outstanding nutrition, psychological support, and, perhaps most important, the knowledge that they are deeply loved. Join us, and help make this vision a reality!"
Check out the wonderful work of The Small Things @
