Thank you so much for visiting my foundaraising page. Let me tell you a little about myself. I am a wife to an amazing husband who is a Sheriffs Deputy. I am a mother to two wonderful daughters. I am the daughter of the most supportive parents and a sister to two wonderul siblings. In my free time, I get the opportunity to encourage others in their fitness goals as a fitness instructor. I am now on the long journey in becoming a marathon runner!
I began running after having my two daughters and losing 30lbs. Running has always been very difficult for me but the process of pushing myself longer and harder has become so rewarding. I did so well at pushing myself that I was on my way to completing my first half marathon. Just as I began to see the the fruits of my labor of love, I tore my ACL and needed reconstruction surgery. It was devastating and took more courage to overcome my injury than for my original goal for getting healthy. After months of therapy, I became discouraged and started to believe that I would never run again. After months of praying and excruciating pain, I got the courage to try to run again. In Novemeber, I ran my first mile (post surgery) and it felt like the first time that I had run my half marathon. I almost gave up on my dream because I couldn't see running 26 miles when I could barely make it through one mile. But something inside me told me that I could do it. I just needed to inspire myself to keep trying.
I decided to focus on one man everytime I wanted to give up, Pat Tillman. Pat was a man that my husband and I had always admired because he pushed himself to be better and beat all the odds. He gave up his career to serve our country and ultimately gave his life. After that first mile, I knew I wanted to push myself harder and do something meaningful. I decided I wanted to run a marathon but not just any marathon, I wanted to run the Chicago marathon. I wanted to run for a purpose. That purpose is to raise money for an organizagtion that helps veterans like Pat and their families achieve their educational goals. I want to go to Chicago and know that all my training and hardwork is helping someone else achieve their goal. I want to motivate others to do great things and set goals that will move mountains!
