Ashley Treviño wrote -This year as my birthday approaches, I've decided I want to celebrate by trying to raise money for a cause that is near and dear to my heart. As many of you may know my beloved grandmother has Parkinson's associated Dementia. It's only been a few years, but the disease has progressed rather quickly. The simplest daily activities that we all are able to preform have become just about impossible and highly frustrating for her without the help of my Mom and Grandfather. Thankfully, she is still able to comprehend our talks and on really good days you might get her to say, "I love you too" before she turns in for the night. Over 5 million people are affected by Dementia worldwide. Parkinson's associated Dementia affects 50-80 percent of those with Parkinson's as their disease progresses. However, there are no treatments to slow or stop the brain cell damage caused by this disease and many others related to Dementia . Current strategies focus on helping the symptoms. Now this is the part where you come in. Through Hilarity for Charity, I've decided to donate my birthday to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association so we can continue to try and find a cure. There is no donation too small, every little bit helps and is so greatly appreciated! Please, help me try and make a difference this year for my birthday. Just knowing that we are raising money that could potentially help find a cure for Dementia related diseases will be the greatest gift of a lifetime!
