I haven't even stepped on the plane yet, but this trip has already stretched me. After I discovered this trip online, I spent a lot of time in prayer and counsel with friends about whether I should apply. I decided I would and despite the fact every deadline was passed, was accepted. A few months later, I took a big gulp as I watched my savings account drain. In less than two months, I will be boarding a plane to travel to a developing country for the first time.
On this missions trip my team will be bringing Bibles into several restricted countries. We will be traveling a lot, which will be exhausting but also awesome as I look forward to seeing as much of Asia as I can. I will also be staying about a week longer after the team leaves, and live with a missionary couple who are ministering to girls rescued from prostitution.
This short-term trip is a bigger picture consideration of where God may want me. As I enter into finishing my college degree, I am looking towards graduation and why I want to get a degree. Overseas missions is on my heart, and this trip is a way of stepping out and prayerfully asking God to teach me more, to guide me.
In total my costs will be a bit over $3000 - that's including airfare, meals, boarding and visas, so that's pretty amazing. I'm not the person who asks for money. I'm more the self-sufficient-I-can-do-it-myself-thanks sort of person, so this is a bit awkward for me. I work hard, and I save my money. If you know me, you know that.
But I also know I'm living in community, and you guys love me. So I want to invite you to be a part of what I do, to be a part of my journey with God. You have been there for me so much in years past, I am blessed by such friends and family. God did not plan for us to live this life alone.
Those are the details. If you want to know more about my trip, feel free to ask me!
