BENEFITING: THE A SKATE FOUNDATION
A.skate is a non-profit organization that holds free skateboarding clinics for children on the autism spectrum all over the world. Our goal is to have them regularly in Portland, Oregon. We need to raise money for an event for 90 participants this October.
A.skate Mission Statement: "A.skate-Autism. Skating with kids through acceptance, therapy, and education.
" From a.skate.org: "Autism, like skateboarding, can be unpredictable and often times unruly. We embrace the parts of autism that are hard to understand and give these kids an outlet that is free of rules and judgement, and allows them to be social without being "social."
A.skate is Self Funded. We depend on Sales of merchandise, Donations and Fundraisers to keep us going. Each one of our events costs us around 3K for 60 kids. That number includes just about everything—travel, set-up costs, shipping boards, etc. It’s part of our charter to keep the clinics free to all who attend. • Cost of renting the skate park *Travel expenses for A.Skate to come to Portland - Hotels and Transportation (car and gas) • Clinic Participation -Shipping equipment (HELMETS, PADS, BOARDS)and merchandise to every City • Merchandise -A.skate Merchandise to replenish and sell at each Clinic
A. skate in Portland: We are working out all of the all of the specifics for a fall clinic in the Portland area. There was one here a couple years ago that was a success. Our intent is to have three to five clinics a year at various skate parks around the area. Please help us make this a reality for kids with AUTISM in our community. Thank you on behalf of all the kids and families living with autism who will potentially take part in a day of skateboarding.
