"To say that our team trip overseas was an experience of a lifetime does not do it justice...Seeing the smiles on the faces of the children as we played with them made me realize how easy it is for us to make a positive difference in the lives of others." - Lauren Polansky '13
"This experience will stay with me forever and I am so lucky that I was able to share it with such incredible people...Even though we were only with the children for a short couple of hours, if we somehow made a child smile and feel loved, then I feel we accomplished our mission." - Niveen Rasheed '13
ASSISTS COUNTER: 483 total assists in 29 games.
Assists 4 Africa will hold events during the Princeton women’s basketball home games at Jadwin Gym during the 2012-13 season. Throughout the course of our season, we encourage fans to either:
make a one-time donation
pledge an amount of their choosing to correspond to our season's total assists (for example, if you pledge 25 cents per assist and the team finishes the season with 400 total assists, then the final amount donated will be $100).
If you choose to give a one-time donation, you may simply donate here on our CrowdRise page at any point during the basketball season. If, however, you would like to pledge per assist, then please click here to fill out our assists pledge card. On this pledge card, we ask that you provide your name and e-mail address so that we can inform you of the final donation amount at the season's end, which we will eventually collect via CrowdRise. With the funds raised, we will work with SEEDS (officially Sports for Education and Economic Development in Senegal; 501(c)3 charity, see tax info at the bottom of the page) to support Senegalese youth in their academic and athletic pursuits.
Our kickoff event will be Saturday, December 12th at the men's and women's doubleheader against the University of Pennsylvania, which also serves as the conference opener for each team. The women's game is at 3:30PM and the men's game follows at 6PM. At the event, we will sell t-shirts and provide pledge cards for attendees. A second event will be held during the final home game against Brown University, which takes place at 6PM on Saturday, March 9th.
