We are here to challenge you to join us for DHA’s 24th Annual Walk for the Animals -- Tails Around the Tower on Sunday, October 5th. Our team for the walk will be The A Street Band. (No musical talent required but you must be from New Jersey. Just kidding. Delaware is close enough).
We are all committed to helping Delaware Humane Association continue its wonderful mission in new energetic and exciting ways.
About Delaware Humane Association:
Founded in 1957, Delaware Humane Association (DHA) is Delaware’s premiere nonprofit no kill animal shelter and adoption center, serving a four state area.
We are committed to providing for the needs of homeless and owned dogs and cats in our community. Serving over 5,000 companion animals annually through direct intervention and many more through advocacy, we continue to promote the humane values of protection, care, and compassion for all living things. We envision a future where all people and their pets live healthy, happy and long lives together.
Each year, hundreds of animals come to DHA in search of a warm bed, good meal, and most importantly, a new home. Our dedicated staff and volunteers work hard to ensure that each animal receives the best care possible during his/her stay at our adoption shelter. We're committed to preparing all adoptable dogs and cats for a new home by keeping them well-groomed, giving them daily exercise and affection, and providing obedience training and any necessary medical care.
DHA serves the community by offering affordable spay/neuter services, low cost vaccination clinics, and a pet food pantry.
We receive no government funding, and rely on the support of the community in the form of volunteers, private donations, bequests, grants, fundraising events, and our Guardian Angel Program to complete our mission.
Our mission is to act as a voice for companion animals and to enhance their welfare by providing temporary shelter, spay/neuter services, humane education programs, and adoption/placement resources.
Our vision is to secure a safe environment for all companion animals.
DHA embraces a philosophy of humane and ethical care of all living creatures. We make every effort to ensure that the physical, medical, social, and emotional needs of our animals are met every day. We make a life-long commitment to each animal accepted into DHA’s care. We do not euthanize animals to make space to house others. DHA works to preserves life whenever possible. Everything we do to build a system to protect and care for homeless pets is to help create a more humane society.
