A student's plea for tuition
Organized by: Kyle Gurney
I am a second year veterinary student at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. In early February, I was in a motor accident. The cost of repairs on the other driver's vehicle cost me the rough equivalent of $5000 in South African Rands. I am a poor student, and my family only just scrapes by from month to month. This accident cost me almost my entire year's tuition. Since I was incredibly young, I have known without a doubt that I want to devote my life to the care of animals, And it is a dream that I couldn't bear to let go of. I had to work incredibly hard to gain acceptance into this degree, and my family has sacrificed far too much to pay the fees. I have already sold my car to try and pay off some of my tuition, but it was incredibly old, and damaged from the accident, so that barely made a dent in my debt. If I cannot raise the money to pay my tuition, I will be forced to leave the course. It would absolutely destroy me to be forced to give up on my dream because of such a stupid mistake. And so, I am appealing to anybody out there to help me out with even the smallest donation towards making my dream a reality. A lot of little goes a long way...
