BENEFITING: KINGS COUNTY TENNIS LEAGUE
EVENT DATE: Feb 24, 2016
Kings County Tennis League (KCTL) is a true grassroots organization that uses tennis to facilitate youth development and community building. I’m proud to be a board member of this organization since it “serves” over 200 children in underserved Brooklyn neighborhoods, with locations in five public housing developments! This year, continuing our trend since our inception, we want to grow to a sixth location and renovate one of our existing ones. We’d like your help with this, and every dollar counts in making a beneficial difference in these kids’ lives. For example, every $25 donation will purchase a child’s tennis racquet; every $100 will buy a new portable tennis net; and every $1,000 will provide all the equipment needed for a single site. How will you help KCTL to bring the joys of tennis to kids?
KCTL does so much good in communities that often get overlooked, and so we dream big at KCTL because we truly want to help as many kids as we can. Each site expansion costs $10,000. That pays for permits, equipment and oversight. A renovation of our current location, Sumner Playground will allow us to build dedicated tennis courts thereby increasing our ability to serve more youth in that area. The price tag on this renovation is close to $15,000.
In my first year with this organization, I saw firsthand the impact that KCTL had on the communities where we serve, and it has resonated so deeply with me that I want to do as much as I can to help the program expand. This has, without exaggeration, been one of the most positive experiences of my life. Through this event, I am asking for your help to make KCTL reach more children and more communities in 2016.
Please help us continue this great work!
