BENEFITING: Reclaim Childhood, Inc.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! This summer I will be an intern with an organization called Reclaim Childhood located in Amman, Jordan. This organization seeks to promote empowerment in vulnerable refugee communities, specifically targeting women and girls, through athletics. Arab girls in the Middle East do not have many opportunities to play in sports leagues and the staff at Reclaim Childhood aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for girls to discover themselves through confidence, sport, and play. Beyond athletics, girls are introduced to skills that promote participation in society through teamwork and leadership. Starting with success on the playing field, girls learn through Reclaim Childhood the power of their individual presence that resonates in realms beyond sports. I will be serving as an intern for four weeks this summer, traveling and working with different refugee communities in Jordan to provide week-long sports camps for the girls in the area. It is an organization run by young women for young women, providing a uniquely female support system.
In my own experience, athletics have been incredibly transformative starting in my teenage years. I began running competitively at age 15 and learned some fundamental skills regarding sportsmanship, goal-setting, and determination that carried over into other aspects of my life. Similarly, Reclaim Childhood aims to enrich the lives of at-risk Arab girls through various sports offered, not only promoting individual growth but also peaceful interactions in an area of the world where turmoil is far too common.
If you wish to help bring such a change to girls in Jordan, you may make a donation at this page. Any amount is greatly appreciated! My goal is $4,000 by the end of August, and the funds will go towards athletic programs and equipment for Reclaim Childhood. Thank you so much for visiting this page and considering the cause!
