EVENT: The March For Science
EVENT DATE: Apr 22, 2017
Time has come to protect evidence based research and to stand up for more funding towards research. Be it climate change or clinical trials, we need resources to sustain the scientific research. As you know I am very passionate about science policies and I do know you share my concern. I am currently working on my PhD in Molecular Biology at Georgia Tech. I have been doing research for the last 8 years. I would highly appreciate if you could donate some money towards March for Science Atlanta. Thank you.

On April 22 - Earth Day - we will unite in Atlanta for the March for Science.
Science protects the health of our communities, the safety of our families, the education of our children, the foundation of our economy and jobs, and the future we all want to live in and preserve for coming generations.
We speak up now because all of these values are currently at risk. When science is threatened, so is the society that scientists uphold and protect.
There are a number of costs associated with marching, least of which is the liability insurance, which can be $0.50 for every marcher in attendance! The bigger we want to be the more it costs, and we'd love to have a huge outpouring of support for science!
Some of our most prominant costs are:
- Volunteer Shirts $ 2,000
- Water $ 125
- Bull Horn $ 114
- Name Tags $ 25
- Signs $ 500
- Permits $ 200
- Waterwater refill stations $5,000
- Restrooms $ 4,000
- Stage/sound $ 7,900
- Sanitation $ 3,875
- Emergency Medical Services $ 3,000
- Security $ 5,000
- Green Team cleanup crew $ 500
- Speakers $ 2,000
- Meeting costs $ 500
- Interpreters $ 1,000
- Vendors table and chairs for $ 3,300
- Liability insurance for 20K marchers $ 10,000
We would also gladly accept "in-kind" donations for things from the list, where possible!
