BENEFITING: ATLANTA TRACK CLUB INC
ORGANIZER: ATLANTA TRACK CLUB INC
Lois and I are part of an amazing group of individuals that are working hard this fall to raise much needed funds for Atlanta Track Club's Kilometer Kids Program. (for more info on the group, see below).
Some members of the team will be going to NYC to run the marathon on Nov 5th - Lois and I will be staying behind and sipping tea - or hot cocoa - but cheering them on in spirit!
HOWEVER, to make up for sitting it out the marathon Lois and I will run a mile for every dollar donated between 8a Friday and 8p Monday. This be valid for every weekend now to Thanksgiving!
-Lois will max out at 3 miles a day
-Dee will max out at 12miles a day
ALL miles will be completed between Tuesday and Sunday of that week. If Lois has more $$ than her mile limit, I will pick them up.
If I have more $$ donated to me than my mile limit, it sucks to be me. Or I will ask a CELBRETY GUEST that I have on standby to assist :)
Any person that donates 26.2 dollars (the equivelant in miles of a marathon) earns a free 6 pack of beer from Monday night brewery! Why Monday Night? Because that is the location of our Octoberfest/Silent Auction in early October. (more info on that to come.)
Any questions! give me a call or email me at 678-207-9700
Mission Kilometer Kids inspires kids to become healthy and fit through a fun and supportive running program, empowering them with the knowledge they need to make smart lifestyle choices. KK promotes health, while at the same time, gives kids an extra shot of confidence, self-worth, and drive.
History of the Program Kilometer Kids is the youth running program of Atlanta Track Club, the second largest running organization in the United States. KK began in 2007 with on group that served 38 kids. Today, Kilometer Kids impacts more than 7,500 kids in communities throughout the greater Atlanta area, and beyond!
What's the Benefit of Kilometer Kids? Through the Kilometer Kids program, kids learn that exercise is a fun and rewarding activity, opening the door for physical activity to become a lifelong habit. Based on statistics, establishing an active lifestyle at a young age is extremely important. According to the Centers for Disease Control, there is a lack of physical activity among many children that has led to a 17% obesity rate for children in the United States. By encouraging an active lifestyle, Kilometer Kids and Atlanta Track Club seek to improve participants’ health and lower those statistics on childhood obesity
