THE STORY:

Hello Friends and Family!

I hope that you are well, I wanted to reach out to each of you to ask for your help...

Greg, Ari, and I will be climbing Stone Mountain to raise funds and bring awareness to Post-Partum Depression (PPD) on June 22nd, 2014 at 4:00 P.M. We would love for you to join us in our effort(s) to increase overall awareness by welcoming each of you to join our climb and donate funds to this cause.

This event is entitled, 'Climb Out of the Darkness' for a great reason. Following the birth of my
sweet Ari, (one of the most beautiful times of my life) I experienced THE darkest time of my life. I often diminish my experience with Post-Partum Depression and Anxiety, by sharing my struggles through smiles. However it was truly a frightening and life changing experience.

Imagine crying uncontrollably EVERY day, or not wanting to leave home, consume meals, shower or even brush your teeth. Imagine being in a state of complete exhaustion, but not being able to sleep regardless of how hard you tried, or being afraid to be left home alone. At my lowest point the idea of death was actually a peaceful and comforting thought. It's difficult to expose these feelings, but it's even harder to think of the many women that are currently suffering from PPD, those who will battle PPD in the future and sadly those mothers who have already lost their lives to PPD.

I am thankful to God (the health care providers and support groups that He
placed in my path) to Greg and my family for enabling me to start my climb out of
darkness... It's an ongoing process, but I am much better today. I am blessed to be able to say that I am a survivor of PPD. I can only
imagine the emotions I will encounter climbing that mountain. Remembering
the darkness I've escaped and ascending towards the light! :) Yay!!

Will you climb with me? You can bring friends or family, the more the merrier. Greg plans to carry Ari on his back in our carrier. He will get quite the workout ;).

If you are able to support us by climbing and/or donating, please register and donate!
EVERY. Single. Dollar. COUNTS! No donation is too small.

It's a great cause and all donations will benefit Postpartum Progress Inc, which will in turn help many women suffering from perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

I Hope to see you there!
Thank you for your consideration.

Love,
Raivon, Greg and Ari

P.S. Please excuse any typos, I've had lots of help from Ari while typing ;-)

ABOUT THE CLIMB

Our Climb will be at Stone Mountain on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 4pm.  Please click the REGISTER button on this page, if you would like to Climb AND/OR fundraise.  Every person climbing, even if you are not able to donate or fundraise MUST register, as you may not do the physical climb unless you have registered on this site this year due to liabilty and the need for individual signed waivers- yay for the Climb having grown to this level in just one year! Please email Amber at atlantamom930@gmail.com if you have questions or for more details.

Climb Out of the Darkness is the annual awareness raising and fundraising event for Postpartum Progress, a nonprofit focused on supporting pregnant and new moms with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders like postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, postpartum OCD, postpartum psychosis and pregnancy depression. Also, Climb Out of the Darkness kicks ass. Just so you know.

This Climb is a symbol of the climb out of the darkness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, whether you are a long-time survivor or someone who is still climbing or someone who cares about the health of pregnant and new moms.

Help us raise money so that we can continue to raise awareness of how women are devastated by perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, make sure women know what they need to know about PPD, eliminate stigma and support the mamas who need it.
