BENEFITING: PTSA SANDY HOOK
Rachel D'Avino was murdered in the recent Sandy Hook School shooting defending her young students. We met almost 12 years ago in Waterbury Hospital, we actually grew up within miles of each other but never met because Rachel attended private school. We had an instant connection and quickly became friends. At one point in my life, when I was 18 and had no where to go her family took me in. I have so many memories of her... She was a "one of a kind" person, so funny and so smart. She loved children and had a special gift that helped so many families with children with learning disabilities. I am so greatful to have met her. It's hard to believe that I'll never see her again. The whole thing sickens me and I keep bursting into tears. I live in San Diego California now and I am trying to buy a fight to Connecticut. All I want to do is go home and hug her mother, her sisters and our friends. And I want to say goodbye to my friend Rachel.
