The Story

EVENT DATE: Oct 02, 2016

DEADLINE TO GIVE: Sep 11, 2016

The mission of Airborne Tri Team is to provide inclusive sports and fitness activities for wounded and war veterans. Airborne Tri Team is a program that utilizes mentoring and the therapeutic principals inherent in sports to foster positive personal, social, and physical growth in addition to a better quality of life. Endurance sports summons people whose mantra is based on the things they believe they can do. The military instills in their service men and women a core sense of discipline, a "never quit" attitude, and a collegial spirit. Endurance sports offers a similar tack, helping veterans engage in a whole body approach through working out and working through whatever pain they may have. Preparing to compete and actually participating in a race can be a highly therapeutic, emotional event and an unbelievably healing experience. It is a wonderful, uplifting experience. It's often not about racing per se but rather about all of the physical effort and mental preparation. This all serves to help veterans improve their lifestyle, curtail a debilitating attitude towards life, and pursue a purpose that translates into a positive outlook overall.
