2/17/11 Breaking news says Harvey Almorn Updyke has been arrested. Assuming that no reward monies are needed to elicit info needed for further arrests or conviction in the case, the monies will be donated to help treat the trees and repair the damage.

According to reports, a person calling himself "Al from Dadeville" claims responsibility for dumping large amounts of herbicide intended to kill the oak tree at Toomer's Corner, the tradition site for Auburn University's victory celebrations. Tests confirm the claim that herbicide was applied. We hope to raise monies to offer an reward for anyone offering information that leads to arrest and conviction of the responsible party.
