"Aukuso's Heart" was born as the result of the recent and tragic death of my beloved husband Aukuso Tuiolemotu. My husband was born with a heart defect but was not made aware of this until October 2013. The months leading up to his doctors appointment in October of 2013, he complained of numbness to his left side followed by frequent and constant swelling of his feet. My husband stood at 6'4" a giant of a man with a heart that was unmatched. At his doctors appointment in October of 2013 we were told the numbness sensation and swelling were tiny heart attacks that his body was having. This had been going on for about a year prior and we had no idea. So on November of 2013 he had his heart surgery and was told he would need time off from work for about 4 to 6 months. My husband loved his job and especially the people he worked with, they were his second family. He went back to work in January / February of 2014 and was doing especially well. We took a trip to Las Vegas November of 2014 to visit my sister and her husband and planned to move their in 2016. On July 1st, 2015 my husband passed away as the result of cardiac arrest. The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise awareness and provide education on heart disease prevention and treatment. My husband was young and full of life. If this can save or educate at least one person or encourage at least one person to go in to see a doctor in knowing the signs then I've done my job and my husbands memory and legacy will continue to live on.
