Aunt Mimi's Book Club
Organized by: Emily Snook
My name is Emily Merkle. I am Aunt Mimi, a family nickname.
Aunt Mimi's Book Club (AMBC), in beta for the past two years with my nieces and friends' children, offers curated, delivered book selections for children of all ages. The curation revolves around aggregate data on book recipients, internet research, and the AMBC team's hands-on experience with children, as university professors of literacy, school psychologists, and teachers.
The concept behind AMBC is that curated reading materials, books that are chosen for children based on their aptitude and interests, will be met and read with greater engagement by children than untargeted selections and thus build enthusiasm for reading.
Aunt Mimi's Book Club is for everyone. Parents need not be the only provider of books for their children. Other family members, friends, educators, and donors are all part of the taregted audience.
Recipients are children and young adults ages 0-18 who are in need.

Future plans for AMBC include a technological component.
Once sufficient capital is raised, AMBC aims to develop a "curation algorithm" to synthesize information about our book recipients with the inventories and historical databases of our partner sourcesand thereby effectively "hand-choosing" books for children en masse. Nothing can replace the 100% human touch, but AMBC is confident the development of this algorithm will certainly help us scale and reach more children.
We are seeking funding for the talent to develop the curation algorithm, and for the legal and staffing necessary to complete 501(c)3 status and begin grant application, begin building educational alliances, and begin establishing relations with our members and resource partners so Aunt Mimi's Book Club can fulfill the needs of our little readers.
Thank you for considering supporting childhood literacy and AMBC.
