Austin for Peace
Organized by: Willie Everett
Syria is in ruins due to a violent civil war. More than 12 million of its citizens have been displaced and are in need of humanitarian assistance. A group of international and local Austin musicians have banded together to take action. Please join us on this journey as we introduce to you the “Austin for Peace” album project. The sole objective of the project is to generate revenues to provide support to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). UNHCR provides medical assistance, food, and shelter for the millions of displaced Syrian refugees. Austin for Peace will generate those revenues through the production and sale of an album, from which 100% of net sales will go to support this worthy cause. Your contributions will help fund the costs of producing this album and any surplus donated over the cost of production will go directly to the charity. The finished album will consist of Esteban Alvarez’s own arrangements of several internationally known and loved musical selections and will feature two internationally acclaimed artists, Grammy winner, Ignacio Berroa, and 5 time Grammy winner, John Patitucci, both of whom support and have agreed to collaborate on the project. All musical selections speak a message of peace, hence the name “Austin for Peace”. Your generous contributions will go toward making this album a reality. Our hope is that your one time gift will help to create a vehicle for a continuous and lasting stream of revenues for this cause.
