Michael Phelps Swim School currently offers a swimming lesson program for children and young adults on the autism spectrum. It's awesome, but it gets pricey for families to pay for private lessons. Let's see if we can drastically reduce their out-of-pocket cost! By raising $7500, we'll be able to provide private swimming lessons for 32 swimmers over the course of two 10-week sessions of swimming lessons for 1/4 of what it would typically cost. Our lessons are great for lots of reasons:
1. Safety! Drowning is the leading cause of death when an autistic child wanders. We can change that.
2. There are very few activities/sports that some of these children can do, and ours is a warm and nurturing environment for the children and their families.
3. Our instructors are all young adults who are going to be able to change the world with the compassion they are learning by teaching in our program.
4. Many of these kids learn to swim well -- a lifelong skill that helps them relax and stay in shape.
Please consider a donation to the program. We'll be filtering the donations through Pathfinders for Autism, a great organization that provides resources to families affected by autism. Your donation is tax-deductible. Every dollar counts!
