BENEFITING: AUTISM SPEAKS
I am trying to raise money for Autism Speaks in honor of my son, Jacob. Concerned about his lack of speaking at age three, he was diagnosed with Autism and we didn't know what to do. My heart broke every time he tried to say something. I look back at my videos from when he WAS a baby an I start to cry. I had no idea what we were dealing with. We couldn't bring him anywhere because we never knew when he would have a meltdown. They were often severe. THEN the anger came and that was very scary. I wasn't worried about myself but that he would hurt himself. He has come a long way thanks to Speech and Occupational therapy and medication. He still has difficulty with his speech and gets very upset when you can't understand him and has social development issues but he has been able to attend a regular school and gets good grades. At age 14 now, he is ALL about his video games. He has a really good heart and I am SO PROUD of him. Every year we "Walk for Autism Speaks" in April but unfortunately we don't know a lot of people and don't get the donations we WANT to give. I am doing this to bring awareness to those who don't know about autism and wish to raise money. Thank you for reading this and I hope you will donate what you can! God Bless!
