Autism Therapy for Hudson
Organized by: Becky Merritt
Hudson was diagnosed with severe autism and global developmental delay. Hudson is 4, and has zero words in his vocabulary. He cannot eat, or chew normal foods as he only eats pureed baby food. He has no form of communication. He licks all objects that he comes in contact with. However, he is smart, loving, and bright. We had him enrolled in preschool so he could receive therapy services, including speech and occupational therapy. When asked to point out his colors, numbers, and letters, he can do so. Who knows what else he could be capable of achieving if we allow him this opportunity!
We have that chance! ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis. This is an aggressive therapy used for children with autism. Hudson can receive full one on one attention for his therapies needed. They are aggressive in teaching speech and communication, as well as occupational services which would teach him play skills through behavioral management, instead of hitting and scratching people. They will teach him toileting, since he is still in diapers. They can teach him to tolerate foods and how to self-feed, because he cannot.
This is a costly service, and has been offered to us for an entire school year. A full five days of therapy. Just imagine how much he can learn and grow from this! Aside from what our insurance covers, there is a cost that is not submitted though the insurance company to cover tuition fees. There are 2 locations in our area that offer these services. The additional fees for one location is $10,000 and for the other is $8500. Please help us raise this money to give Hudson a chance, a voice, and a wonderful opportunity of a lifetime!
