Kar Has Something To Say!
August 08, 2017
THE STORY:
Since 2004, AutismUp has dedicated itself to providing support and opportunties to individuals and families living with autism. We have grown to support over 2,000 families, and are thrilled to announce our 5th annual AutismUp KiteFlite Parade, Festival & Expo will take place to celebrate them on August 20, 2017 at Capelli Stadium (formerly Rhinos Stadium). This amazing family FUNdraising challenge and festival raises awareness, supports the operations of AutismUp, and allows us to expand our unique programs.
We cannot do this alone. Autism affects our entire community. There are families among us who are struggling. AutismUp is making a significant positive impact by helping these families today. However, there is so much more to be done to insure the future for individuals and families living with autism. Our direct programming, support services, awareness and advocacy efforts must continue to grow, and access to support must begin at diagnosis and in tandem with the community at large, because autism lasts a lifetime.
We can’t continue to expand and enhance programs and services that meet member needs - your needs and your children’s needs - without your help. Please support our 2017 KiteFlite Fundraising Challenge and help raise much needed funding for local programs that help today, develop support for tomorrow and drive awareness of the future needs of the local autism community.
Last year, we realized the first step in our vision for the future. We opened the doors to our newest endeavor - a multi-sensory learning environment for individuals with autism, and their entire family! AutismUp's Multi-Sensory Learning Environment is an extension of our current operations and serves as a "base camp" which has significantly enhanced our ability to provide expanded and enhanced programs and services to seven days a week. In our first year we served over 2,000 children, teens, young adults and parents in our new location!
Our mission is distinct and steadfast. We will continue to grow alongside our children and families, firmly committed to improving quality of life at all ages and stages of development. AutismUp is building the future for individuals with autism as they age - growing up with our kids, making sure a breadth of support and opportunities are here throughout a lifetime - social skill education, life skill development, recreational opportunities, vocational training and so much more. More support for kids, more support for families, more support for the caregivers, more support for siblings, more support for the community. Ultimately, to promote success while facing the challenges of autism from childhood to adulthood.
