A Van for Manny
Organized by: The Mora-Family Mora
Almost two years ago, my brother Manny Mora was diagnosed with Ameotrophic Lateral Schleroses (ALS) also known as "Lou Gehrig's disease." ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, and currently has no cure. ALS is a terrible disease that takes away its victim's ability to walk, talk, use of basic motor skills, and eventually leads to loss of life.
Manny has always been an incredible person that is full of life and love for his family and friends. He has always been a very caring and giving person with the ability to befriend most people he comes in contact with. Manny is well respected and well liked by all who know him and has always had a fun loving spirit and a high level of optimism approach to life.
In the short period of time since his diagnosis, Manny has lost the ability to walk and currently uses a wheelchair to get around. With Manny losing most of the strength in his legs, it has become more and more difficult for Manny and his family to assist him in getting in and out of their car. However, even during this very difficult time in his life, Manny continues to approach life with a firmness in his faith in God and the same level of optimism and spirit he has displayed throughout his life.
We all believe Manny is a tremendous blessing to our circle of family and friends, and continues to be an inspiration to us all. It is with this spirit that we are coming together to try to help make Manny and his family's life a little easier, and in effect, also giving them and Manny a little more freedom to get around and travel while they still can.
All proceeds will go directly to the purchase of a new wheelchair accessible van and to Manny's family to cover any medical expenses that they are incurring as they continue to fight this terrible disease.
Please join us make this dream a reality!
