BENEFITING: Children's Cardiomyopathy Foundation, Inc.
At 5 weeks old our daughter, Ava, was diagnosed with a rare heart condition called Dilated Cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart). She was hospitalized for 3 months and dependent on IV medications which made her a candidate for a heart transplant. During her hospital stay, Ava was listed on UNOS at a 1A status which means she was at the top of the transplant list. We waited for a new heart for about 6 weeks and during that time Ava's doctors tried to take her off her IV medications 4 different times. It was on that 4th time that the process worked! Ava was able to sustain on her own with oral medications. We were then taken off the UNOS list and to this day Ava still has her own heart. She takes medicines daily and visits her cardiologist twice a year. We walk for a cure and to help fund the research that will find that cure. Please consider making a donation towards this wonderful charity that allows for this to happen!
