On April 25, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake devastated Nepal, with powerful aftershocks causing additional damage and loss of life over the following weeks. The earthquake and aftershocks—including a 7.3 magnitude quake on May 12 have taken more than 8,600 lives, injured thousands and left more than 800,000 homes destroyed or damaged. As many as 8 million people—nearly a third of the country’s population—have been affected.
Avaya is dedicating the month of July as the Avaya Month of Giving. As a part of this initiative, a group of us at Avaya Billerica, MA office, Tom Powers, Brady Huang, Cristian Patapie, Haseeb Jawad, Adam Skierkiewicz, Dinesh Ganapathi and ShreeKarthic Chinnasamy are leading a fundraising effort for Nepal Earthquake Relief.
Our IT Operations resource, Bishwo Maharjan, who is originally from Nepal and sits in the same Billerica office will also be part of this effort. We are arranging local events in Billerica, MA office and also raising money through online fundraising, that is open for all the Avaya offices globally and outside of Avaya.
We encourage all to please contribute to our fundraising event and spread the message so that more and more people can contribute and help Nepal at this time of need.
