Top pledge achiever!!
April 18, 2016
We are asking for your support to help protect our water, by making a doantion to "Western Resource Advocates" a non-profit organization based out of Boulder, Colorado.
Every year during April, local Colorado Aveda employees work hard to raise money that is donated to Western Resource Advocates, a Boulder, CO non-profit company that is then used to provide and protect clean water to communities throughout the World. This year, we are pledging to summit a 14,000 ft mountain (14er) for your donation. You are all invited to join us in our hike as well as donate to such a great cause. Thank you for your support!
Here's some info about Colorado's water resources:
- The Colorado River sustains over 40 million people in 7 states, supports 15% of the nation's food supply, and fills two of the largest reservoirs. Due to a 14-year drought and over use of the river, these reservoirs have lost over half their water, and the once lush Colorado River Delta, where the rivers meets the sea, is dry.
- Freshwater ecosystems are also at risk when river flows are low. Nutrient concentrations in rivers and lakes generally rise when water levels drop, which can kill or harm aquatic animals and make water unsafe to drink.
- In Colorado, 90% of all the state's wildlife lives along rivers.
Our water supply is shrinking and effects all of us! I hope you'll support our local Aveda Experience Center in making our goal to protect all of our water!
