EVENT: AVP's Circle of Courage
Please join me and make a tax-deductible gift to the New York City Anti-Violence Project this holiday season! Our goal is to collect 360 gifts by December 31 to make sure AVP can continue our vital work of supporting and providing services to LGBTQ and HIV-affected survivors of violence and organizing our community to address and end all forms of violence.
In 2015, we have documented 22 homicides of transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) people in the United States, the highest rate NCAVP has ever recorded. And we know that many more murders of transgender and gender nonconforming people are never reported or correctly documented.
As AVP's new Executive DIrector, I am so honored to be able to help lead this organization during such a critical time. AVP has been here for our community for more than 30 years. Last year, AVP received nearly 3,500 calls on our 24-hour bilingual (English/Spanish) hotline, that's approximately one call every two and a half hours.
With your support, AVP will continue to offer leadership development, training, services, organizing and advocacy that our community relies on, all completely for free. We’re expanding our legal services and economic empowerment programming, to help our community members who need a lawyer or help getting back on their feet after experiencing violence and trauma and we'll be focusing even more attention on preventing the violence that affects us all. Your gift, whether $50, $500 or more, gets us closer to our goal of 360 gifts, a full circle of support.
We can only do this work with you by our side. Thank you in advance for your support of LGBTQ and HIV-affected survivors of violence.
