Adult Well-Being Services’ (AWBS) mission is to promote health, well-being and independence through advocacy, services and community engagement. Founded in Detroit in 1953 by the Junior League of Detroit, AWBS was one of the first senior centers in the United States; for the past 61 years, AWBS has focused its efforts and resources on providing culturally competent services to vulnerable populations including older adults, adults with disabilities, caregivers, and low-income families in 21 Michigan counties. AWBS’ major goal is to foster informed, compassionate and successful communities shaped by people of all capabilities. Our activities and programs are both integrated and comprehensive in order to respond to the multifaceted needs of individuals in our community.
When you donate to AWBS, you give back in many different ways.
~ You protect vulnerable seniors from abuse and neglect.
~ Your gift helps teach seniors and adults with disabilities money management skills.
~ Your donations are used to teach life skills and enrich the lives of adults with developmental disabilities.
~ When you give back, you are helping adults with mental illness or substance abuse disorders.
