BENEFITING: AZ HEROES TO HOMETOWNS FOUNDATION
What is a hero/heroine: A man or woman of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his/her brave deeds and noble qualities. Everyday the countless men and women serving in our military put their lives on the line to protect our nation’s safety and security while preserving our individual freedom. They willingly and proudly accept the personal dangers and sacrifices their career entails. For many of these men and women, a career in the military was their lifelong goal and now they are not only faced with the loss of that dream, but they are also dealing with overcoming the significant physical and emotional challenges that they now face. Arizona Heroes to Hometowns was founded to welcome home and support our wounded Service Members who, because of injuries sustained, can no longer continue to serve in the military. Arizona Heroes to Hometowns is here to assist our injured troops/veterans in the transition back to the their community and has a long-standing history in supporting our returning heroes, including: *Help with paying the bills; *Finding suitable homes and adapting as needed; *Transportation to medical appointments; *Finding jobs and providing educational assistance; *Arranging welcome home celebrations; *Help working through bureaucracy and obtaining government benefits; *Coordinating sports and recreation opportunities; *Assisting in providing holiday dinners; *Peer mentoring and personal growth programs. Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), Injured/Wounded Troops, Deployed Military Families, Guard, Reserves, and Active Duty MilitaryAZ Heroes to Hometowns has entered a partnership with local food banks to provide 2,500 food boxes to support these military families for this upcoming Thanksgiving season.
