B-boys Fullmoon and Fahad to Charlottesville
Organized by: Tamika Allen
EVENT DATE Nov 09, 2014
Don't you want to be down? If you've never heard of the Roger Rabbit, the worm, or a Baby Freeze, fret not! You can still help to put a kick step in someone's shell toe Adidas with a generous and most appreciated contribution. Raised funds will help support airfare for one ticket, lodging, and incidentals for the dynamic duo.
Why is this project important?
Instead of the traditional mission trip from the U.S. to somewhere else on the map, this exchange flips the script! This project will enable two gifted dancers from Uganda to test the notion that art can and should be used for social change in comfortable, rural VA!
In geek talk!:
History has shown that youth-led movements shape political landscapes the world over--Soweto, 2008 U.S. federal elections, Arab Spring. These movements spoke to the social milieu of their time and highlight the creation of and the demand for space for youth involvement. Most notably, Hip Hop has become a universal method of expression and can be found at the core of positive social movements and youth organizations around the world. This exchange is going to try to move the positive aspects of Hip Hop and the youth that we care for forward, one exchange at a time!
