BENEFITING: B STRONG RIDE
EVENT DATE: Jul 01, 2017
Hi Friends, As most of you know, cancer has played a large role in my life- as it does for too many people’s lives- perhaps you or your family or your friends have all been touched by it at some time or another. I lost my dad to colon cancer when I was only 16. This past April, I lost one of my running and cycling friends to brain cancer- Scott MacKenzie, who leaves behind a lovely wife and 2 boys, one of whom is in the midst of his own battle with leukemia. In mid August I will be riding in a cancer fundraising bike ride in Boulder called the B-Strong Ride (http://www.bstrongride.com/), in an effort to *do* something about it, in some small way. The B-Strong Ride funds a COMPLETE YEAR of cancer care at the Center for Integrative Care at Boulder Community Hospital, and also benefits the George Karl Foundation dedicated to improving the cancer journey. So although my ride on an August Saturday morning in Boulder may only be a small action, by joining forces with my coworkers in our fundraising efforts, along with our neighbors and community across the Front Range, we all together are making a big difference for cancer patients and their families in our regional community.
This year, I will ride with Scott’s name on my jersey, riding in his memory as he was a very avid cyclist, and riding for the strength of his surviving family. If you are able, I would greatly appreciate a contribution of any size in support of this endeavor. If you are not able to financially contribute, you can still offer your support by holding Scott and his family, and the countless other families impacted by cancer, in your heart.
Thank you so much for your support- in all the ways that you offer it.
