Established in 1987, Shattuck Partners is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of patients of the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, a state-funded safety-net hospital in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood. The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital delivers compassionate medical and psychiatric care to some of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ most underserved adults.
Each year, the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital is a beacon of hope for thousands of patients from all over the state who face complex diagnoses and extremely difficult life circumstances. The hospital provides excellent medical and psychiatric care, but doesn’t have the resources for supplemental activities and programs which can be as important as medical interventions for this vulnerable population.
This is where Shattuck Partners steps in, providing vocational rehabilitation, therapeutic and expressive arts programming, recreational activities and personal necessities to help prepare patients for successful and healthy re-entry into the community. Collaborating with staff at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, Shattuck Partners identifies patient-focused needs that the hospital is unable to address.
Examples of projects funded by Shattuck Partners include weekend poetry and art programs, vocational rehabilitation through the hospital’s onsite gift shop, installation of televisions in inpatient units, subsidized expanded channels and Netflix, movie nights, transition packages for discharged patients, and a sensory modulation program.
The Shattuck Partners Team will be running the BAA Half Marathon on October 16th, 2016 to raise funds for Shattuck Partners to provide continued support services for the patients at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital. This race is particularly special to the Shattuck Partners Team, as it starts and finishes in Franklin Park’s White Stadium, just a mile away from Lemuel Shattuck Hospital.
We kindly ask you consider donating to our cause. No donation is too small and every donation helps make a difference in the lives of the patients at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital. Thank you!
