Baby Mine Purlieus
Organized by: Julianne Jacoboni
I am a stay at home mom. I deeply care for my daughter's well being. I want the absolute best for her. To me that means I want to give her the greatest start in life. I am breastfeeding and plan to until she is two years old, per current scientific research stating the optimum range to breastfeed to most benefit a child's development and growth. I read many books I check out from my local library as I nurse my baby girl. I am aware now how I can give her the best start on her developmental track by creating an environment in which she can roam freely to discover and explore.
Currently my husband and I are recovering from homelessness. We had a rough time a short while back and were on the streets during our pregnancy because we lost our income. A new job just simply did not work out for my husband after I gave my job up to relocate to have our child together after a long distance relationship.
In the past 9 months we went from emergency overnight shelters, to hotels, to a family shelter in which we brought our newborn daughter “home” to from the hospital, and into our new apartment with our two suitcases of belongings. My husband has taken a job working for a low wage, below federal minimum wage to be exact, and we are trying to keep up with the demands of a growing baby. We hope to raise funds to buy her basic needs, a crib, used toys, new and used clothes, basic used home furniture, small kitchen appliances to make her food at home from items purchased at our local farmer’s markets, and to buy the needed gear to create a childproof purlieus in which she may explore to begin building her IQ by discovering everything at arm’s reach.
Please help us to reach our goal. Any additional funds will be divided and made into charitable contributions to the organizations who helped us recover in our darkest time of need. Homeless Prenatal Program, Compass Family Services, and Catholic Charities Saint Joseph’s Family Shelter.
