BENEFITING: RESCUED FOR LIFE INC
Life is not always fair.....
Baci was one out of 130+ dogs confiscated from a Sanctuary/ Rescue in Apple Valley,CA and taken to the Devore Animal Shelter. At the time, he couldn't have been more than 4-5 weeks old.
He may be the only survivor of his litter. The dogs were found in horrific conditions and became part of an investigation that made the national news.
On July 5, 2013, the dogs were released by the Devore Shelter to rescues only, due to their ages and conditions.
Having lost his mother early on and possibly having inherited health problems, as well as spending 18 days in the shelter may be the cause of his strained immune system and overal poor health. Early on, Baci suffered from digestive problems, unfortunately, medications didn't help much and the veterinarian was unable to make a proper diagnosis of his condition. We were told that after what Baci had been through, health problems could be expected.
Baci developed skin problems and after skin scrapes came back negative for mites, etc. we decided to take him to a Veterinarian specialized in Dermatology. After ruling out more common diseases, they suspect that Baci suffers from vasculitis or dermatomyositis.
A costly skin biopsy is needed to properly diagnose Baci's condition, so that we can start him on a treatment. Dermatomyositis is a very debilitating disease and Baci will have to be on medication for the rest of his life.
All of us wished this sweet little "Polar bear" would have had a better start in life and that he wouldn't have had to suffer at such a young age. We want to make sure that Baci can enjoy his life from this point forward. He is a fighter and deserves a chance.
We hope to find kindred hearts to help us to get the funds together for his medical care.
