Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I am excited to be participating in my first ever NYC Marathon in support of Back on My Feet.
Back on My Feet is a national 501(c)(3) non-profit that helps individuals transform their lives through running. Back on My Feet partners with homeless shelters and residential facilities in 12 cities across the country including New York City. Through running, the program hopes to support members in building confidence, determination, and most importantly, a sense of community. Through consistent participation with Back on My Feet, members then have access to essential employment and housing resources like financial aid, educational workshops, resume building, and career counseling. Since its launch, the organization has served over 6,000 members, found employment and housing for 4,500+ members, and provided training and educational opportunities for 1,000+ members.
I began volunteering with Back on My Feet in early June. Once a week, I wake up at 5 am and join our members for one of their three morning runs through lower Manhattan. On the weekends, I meet up with members and volunteers from all six teams for a long training run. I am regularly inspired by the dedication and effort demonstrated by our members towards personal and professional milestones and, of course, towards the final 26.2 miles we are planning to tackle together on Sunday, November 5th.
Thank you for considering a donation to a program that has become so dear to my heart. Every $1 invested in Back on My Feet returns nearly $2.50 to the local community through: increased economic output from employment and the cost savings from housing, medical costs associated with hospitalization and low physical activity levels, incarceration costs, and treatments for alcohol and drug addictions.
