There are infinite reasons why I'll always support law enforcement, but I'm also asking you to support them! This foundation provides so many resources to families who have lost their loved ones. The grieving never goes away, but their lives have to go on. On average, one law enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty in the US every 61 hours. In my lifetime, I have had two people close to me fall into that statistic. When I was 13 years old I received a phone call that would change my life forever. My best friend had just gotten word that her dad, a U.S. Air Force veteran and a detective with the Riverdale Police Department for 14 years, had been killed in the line of duty. Watching someone who is like a sister to you grieve in a way you can never fully understand is challenging and heartbreaking - and that heartbreak never goes away. Fast forward 10 years, that same girl calls me with more heartbreaking news. Our good friend had been a Merrillville police officer for just over a year when he was also killed in the line of duty. Losing a friend in such a violent way brings on a new set of heartache. Help me Back the Blue. Every penny counts.
