GIVEN CHANCE NFP's Fundraiser:

Back To School Talent Show - A way for Chicago children to showcase something other than violence

We are so excited and honored to host our first Annual Play and Back to School Talent Show for youth between the ages of 5 to 17 with Chicago Police Department CAPS Special Activities Division on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, in The Coleman Building Auditorium located at 4655 South Dearborn Street, Chicago, IL 60609. With the Arts being slowly eliminated from Chicago Public Schools due to a budget crisis and lack of funding, this awesome event will provide an enriching cultural experience for our youth to build their confidence, encourage them to have a desire for participating in the Arts, and promote self-expression in ways other than anger and violence. This fun-filled event that appeals to elementary, middle, and high school students, will also segment our programs - How To Act When Stopped By Police and Family Infrastructure, accompanied with informational resources for local residence and parents. We were hoping that you might be willing to help us supply the children with a small gift of back to school giveaways for this event. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded, however, we will also be awarding prizes based on genre and age group. We want to acknowledge ALL participants. Approximately 20 youth will part take in the talent show. With your help, we will be able to purchase school supplies and gift cards, for which their parents can use toward back to school essentials. While we have a goal in mind, any suitable gift you could donate would be much appreciated. If you’re in the area, we also welcome your presence. You, your business, or corporation you represent will receive recognition of generosity on our website, in the event programs, and live at the event. Autonomy is always respected at your discretion. This is a Chicago event and we want you involved as much as Chicagoan's. Too many times our City is congested with negative coverage pertaining to our youth, especially in the area of violence. In spite of that, this time our City and its youth will be recognized for their talents and gifts! Our satellite office is located at: 601 E. 87th Street, Chicago, IL 60619. You are welcome to send your donation via US Mail delivery. This is an educational based talent show, therefore certain prizes will not be permitted or given as prizes. Examples of prizes to be purchased with your donation: Book bag filled with school supplies like pens, pencils, paper, spiral notebook, ruler, compass, crayons, glue sticks, calculator, pencil sharpener, and etc. Book bags will be organized and distributed accordingly based on age and grade of participant. Gift cards: Gift cards such as Visa, Master Card, or American Express for back to school apparel and shoes. In store gift cards from retailers like H&M, Rainbow, Old Navy, Children’s Place, and Zemsky’s for school uniforms. Time for tutoring service and after school programs. Back to school hair styles and hair cuts. We are able to purchase certificates from local hair salons and barbershops. NO MANICURES OR PEDICURES will be offered. Technology such as: laptop, desktop, or tablet, would be for our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place grand prizes. NO CELL PHONES or CELLULAR SERVICE PROVIDER gift cards OR contracts will be offered. Once we have reached the capacity of gifts and prizes needed we will make an announcement. Please support us in this effort with a Given Chance for our youth to believe in themselves and dream the impossible. It is so rewarding to see children on stage expressing themselves and being applauded for their performance. The experience for them is ever memorable and they can cling on to that moment for a lifetime. Our overall goal for this project is to enhance community engagement with Chicago Police, end the violence pattern in Chicago, and provide parents with information to produce more structured productive environments for upbringing our youth and get them involved in extra curriculum activities such as the Arts to better enhance their future success. The Given Chance NFP is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization. All donations are tax deductible based on the Fair Market Value of the Internal Revenue Service. Thank you in advance from everyone at The Given Chance NFP and Chicago Police CAPS Special Activities Division.
