BENEFITING: Back on My Feet
ORGANIZER: Back on My Feet
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
I’m extremely proud and excited to announce that I will be running the 2017 Boston Marathon and raising funds for Boston’s chapter of Back On My Feet! Back On My Feet is an organization that combats homelessness through the power of running, community support, essential employment and housing resources. The unique idea is to recruit those experiencing homelessness and provide practical training and employment resources for achieving independence; an environment that promotes accountability; and a community that offers compassion and hope.
I know that everyone posts “donate to (insert cause here) for my (insert reason here)” and donations and their causes get lost among the newsfeeds. It is for this reason that I’m pledging something different. Something I don’t think anyone has done before. For every $1 that is donated to my fundraiser for Back On My Feet, I will do one burpee. Doesn’t sound like much right? Well, there’s no limit. $100 means 100 burpees, $500 means 500 burpees. $7500 means 7500 burpees and that’s my goal.
On top of the incentive to watch me draw attention to this incredible charity through doing a massive amount of burpees, I’ll offer other incentives to donate such as home-made cookies by my fiancée, a free Spartan Race, running a race in a ridiculous costume and a few other surprises along the way.
To help spread the word I’m using the hashtag #BucksForBurpees and I’ll post weekly videos to keep you updated on my progress with callouts to donors. Thank you all in advance for your support and time (and hopefully money)!

Back on My Feet seeks to revolutionize the way our society approaches homelessness. Our unique running-based model demonstrates that if you first restore confidence, strength and self-esteem, individuals are better equipped to tackle the road ahead and move toward jobs, homes and new lives. For all in need, we aim to provide: practical training and employment resources for achieving independence; an environment that promotes accountability; and a community that offers compassion and hope. For all with the capacity to serve—volunteers, donors, community and corporate partners—we seek to engage you in the profound experience of empowering individuals to achieve what once seemed impossible through the seemingly simple act of putting one foot in front of the other.
