Track and field is essentially the lowest cost sport offered in the public schools systems. With a pair of shoes, a hardworking attitude, and a fairly decent haircut, anyone can have the opportunity to feel great about themselves and showcase their talent and drive. However, the sad truth is that many schools in low income communities cannot afford facilities for their athletes to safely train.
Since I have taken so much from the track in my lifetime, I want to give back by giving underprivileged students the same opportunities I had. I'm running the Chicago Marathon in October. It will be my first of many races to raise money to resurface tracks in disrepair for districts in need.
This is for sure the best track based charity ever started by a guy who cuts his own hair and can make great cheese dip. Thank you for your help.
