EVENT DATE: Feb 02, 2012
I love, absolutely love traveling to Baja Mexico, yet I feel so much compassion for those living in such poverty, sitting around begging for money outside these Baja joints that I enjoy visiting. I end up giving more to the poor than I actually spend in the stores.
I know of this particular couple which manage a small cottage style hotel. Twice a year I take a truck load of used clothes & other items donated to me & drop it off for this couple. They in turn help families in their vicinity.
I was invited to their neigborhood once..... what I saw made me extremely grateful. Adobe room with a dirt floor, matts on the floor as beds & slept a family of four. The children had the tips of their shoes cut off because the shoes no longer fit, yet their radiant smiles lit up my spirit. I especially enjoyed sitting on a soda crate, feasting on handmade corn tortillas filled with homemade beans, (frijoles de la hoya). The sound of music soared thru the air and the kids all ran around playing with the rocks nature had set there for them.
I intend to make my 1st visit sometime in May 2012. If you would like to donate clothing, we can arrange to pick it up (locally of course).
If you donate cash, I buy toiletries @ Costco (case of toilet paper), Soap, Peroxide @ 99 cent store ect.
If you can't participate, no problem, my friends & I will continue gathering our goodies for them :)
Peace, Love & Courage to you,
