Ballard Sunday Dinners has been created by five Ballard congregations and Sustainable Ballard to offer weekly hot meals with dignity to our homeless neighbors. Sunday evenings are the only time in the week that a seated, indoor dinner is not been offered in our neighborhood, and we are joining together to fill a gap in services that each organization couldn't handle alone.
Ballard First Lutheran Church has graciously offered to house the project. Participating communities are providing the meals, and fundraising separately for the food. Sustainable Ballard is recruiting additional volunteers. This CrowdRise fundraiser is welcoming your support for a general fund, shared by all, for a vital core of staffing – coordination, security, and custodial – as well as facility and supply expenses. Our goal is $3000 for startup costs and the first three months of operation. Your gifts will go directly to these services, and are tax deductible.
We expect to serve up to 150 meals a week, about 600 per month.
Participating faith communities are Northwest Christian Church, St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Ballard First Lutheran Church, and Amazing Grace Spiritual Center, which is sponsoring this fundraiser. Sustainable Ballard volunteers are assisting with each week's meal.
Thank you for your support!
