Each year, Ballet Tech introduces classical dance to 30,000 public elementary school kids across New York City. As part of its extensive auditions, Ballet Tech seeks out hidden potential among children who have had no previous dance training. Many don't even know what ballet is.
During the auditions, the kids learn a few steps. As they make their first attempts at basic dance movements, a few of the kids may discover that they have both an affinity and an aptitude for ballet. Identified by Ballet Tech's well-trained audition teams, these kids will have a chance to begin training at the tuition-free Ballet Tech School.
Identifying future dancers is like looking for a needle in a haystack. But the Ballet Tech staff is persistent, driven by the belief that all kids should have access to dance. Although not all of the kids who audition will dance - in fact, very few of them will - all of them will have a unique opportunity to explore their own potential and learn a little bit about classical dance.
For the kids, the cost to audition is free. But for Ballet Tech, the cost is $11.27 per child. Multiply that by 30,000 kids and you'll realize that we could use some help.
Through the generosity of a number of individuals, foundations, and government agencies we’re near our goal. But we’re not quite there. A contribution from you will help us bridge the gap.
With this fundraiser, we aim to cover the cost of 1,500 children or more. You can help by sponsoring 1, 2, 7, or more kids’ auditions. Give any amount you wish, but please give something.
